- It's possible in WP for Windows 6.0 to use a MAPI mailsystem within the
- program. Is there such a mailprogram which uses winsock, if there is, is it
- possible for me to ftp it?
-
- I know of ECS which can use the IMAP protocol (is this the same as MAPI?) but
- WP doesn't recognise it as an mailsystem. The server has an IMAP (IMAP2bis)
- server (imapd) running. ECS runs perfectly outside WP.

-
- Well, Trumpet holds the names of all the groups it knows of on your NNTP
- server in the news.grp file which is either in the program directory if youre
- using a local copy, or in your mail directory if youre on a Novell network.
- If you delete it the program will be forced to re-read all the group names
- when next it runs. Be prepared for a long wait if your server carries a large
- number of groups...

- Subject: IP checksum errors
-
- I posted this to comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibm and didn't get any responses.
- Maybe I'll have better luck in alt.winsock.
-
- I'm having a strange problem with a SLIP connection, and I'm hoping
- someone out there can help.
-
- I'm using the Alpha #18 of the Trumpet Winsock. (Is there a newer
- version? Where?) I'm running it on a Compaq 486-33 with plenty of
- memory and 14.4 modem.
-
- I dial into a Lantronix ETS-8 terminal server at a community college. I
- get a 9600 connection with all the compression and error correction turned
- on, so the speed is effectively more.
-
- I'm having a problem with the domain name server. When I telnet to a
- specific IP address, it works (not perfectly, but well enough). Whenever
- the winsock makes a DNS call, it fails. I've turned on the IP trace, and
- see my machine sending out the info request. What comes back is "IP
- header checksum error". And no packet.
-
- I've tried pointing winsock to another DNS. It fails. I've tried a
- friend's SLIP account on CerfNet, and it works perfectly. I've even
- pointed Winsock to use my local DNS while connected to CerfNet's slip and
- it works fine.
-
- I tried it today with VersaTerm on a friend's Mac and ran into similar
- problems with the DNS.
-
- I've talked to tech support at Lantronix, but all they could suggest was
- to upgrade the ETS-8 software, which I think the sysop is planning to do.
-
- Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?
